Online Consultations

This is a new, easy to use and convenient service we are offering at the practice.

  • We text or email you with advice, a prescription, or an appointment within 48hours.

Emergency on the day Clinic

We offer an Emergency on the day clinic every week day. Should you require urgent medical review you can call the surgery from 08:30. These sessions are for issues that cannot wait and other non-urgent queries, such as MED3 and admin requests, should be requested in an online consultation, by clicking this link

Patients are usually seen in booking order; however, we may need to assess patients in line with their medical need.

Certain symptoms and conditions may be appropriate to be seen by a prescribing nurse, who has full GP support. This will be explained, offered and should your symptoms be more serious, a doctor will be available. 

Group Consultations

Group consultations - also called shared medical appointments, group medical appointments, group appointments - are one to one medical appointments delivered by a clinician to a group of patients with similar health issues in a supportive group setting. In group consultations, clinicians see up to twelve patients in 40-60 minute group slot. Working this way potentially doubles clinician capacity, and systematises follow up. Group consultations can also be used for unplanned, one-off urgent care. ‘Shared Group Consultations’ involve a specialist consulting with up to 12 patients with a primary care clinicians present. They provide a powerful way to integrate primary and specialist care, build relationships and increase clinician’s clinical knowledge.+

Telephone Advice

If you have a problem which you think could be resolved over the phone, let the receptionist know

  • Please give clear details to the receptionist of your problem to ensure the telephone is the most appropriate way to deal with it
  • Some problems cannot be dealt with by phone and you may be asked to attend the practice
  • The doctor/nurse will need to phone you back so  please ensure to give us, your up-to-date contact details and when you will be available to receive a call

Evening & Weekend Appointments  (PCAS)

We are part of the Tameside & Glossop Primary Care Access Service (PCAS - was called 7 Day Access), evening and weekend service. Patients can attend a routine appointment, at evenings and weekends, at Ashton Primary Care Centre, Denton Ann Street, and other neighbourhood hubs. These are pre-bookable appointments, including blood tests, cervical screening and most other items you would expect during a routine appointment.Please request one of these appointments through reception. Pre Bookable -Routine Telephone Appointments with a GP

Routine appointments with a doctor are available to book up to 4 weeks in advance and the appointment time is for 15 minutes. If you have more than one issue/problem that you would like to discuss with the Doctor please request a double appointment at reception.

GP Home Visits

All requests for same day home visits by a Doctor must be made before 11.30am. You will be asked by the reception team about the nature of your request. It is likely that the Doctor will call you to discuss and assess a Home Visit request prior to any visit taking place.

Nurse Appointments

Appointments with our nursing team are available to book up to 4 weeks in advance. So that we can ensure you are seen by the most appropriate staff member our reception team will ask the type of appointment that you require (i.e. asthma /COPD review, contraception advice etc.)

Unattended Appointments

Each week we have the equivalent of one whole day of surgery appointment time wasted.  This time is wasted because many patients book appointments and then do not attend. These appointments should and could be used for other patients.  If we have your correct mobile number you will receive a text reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment. Please ensure you contact us at the earliest opportunity if you are unable to keep your appointment.

Choose Well. Right Treatment, Right Place

Sometimes our urgent care services are not always used in the right way. Each year we see an increase in the number of people visiting Accident and Emergency (A&E) when they could have received the help that they needed from their Pharmacist, GP, Dentist or our Urgent Treatment Centre (including walk-in access).
