A few words from Nurse Baker...
I have been a registered Nurse since 1982 and have worked in General Practice since 2001. I have always worked in locally and joined Market Street in 2004.
Amongst lots of other things, I work with our patients to help them manage long term conditions and have an interest in diabetes and respiratory conditions. My special interest is Family Planning and as well as offering these services to patients at Market Street, I also still work at a Family Planning Clinic in Manchester 2 sessions per week.
I enjoy Nursing in General Pracitce it's always challenging, varied and very rewarding!
I am a qualified RGN with over 20 years clinical experience, I began working here in Droylsden in 2004.
My specialist interests are weight management and diabetes, I also enjoy assisting with our baby clinic and meeting our newborns! A large part of my role is supporting patients with chronic disease managment and helping them to manage thier condition. In addition I also run our anti-coagulation clinic. My role here at Market Street is very busy but enjoyable, its rewarding to know we can support our patients and thier families.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and ECG's. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions including asthma or diabetes, and carry out cervical smears.
